Preaching Love...But Only For Some?

In a New York Times Op-Ed Column by Eric Lax, he points out an interesting contradiction that the church has been preaching over the years. To put it into context, the whole jist of the New Testament in the Bible is simple, God Is Love. Above all else, this is the main theme. Yet, as Eric Fox points out, the church views "if two members of the same sex engage in long, committed and faithful love; God may be love, but this love is ungodly." Time out! As a Christian myself, and at that a young one, even I understand how wrong this is. To say God Is Love, the crux of your religion, can be overshadowed by something as trivial as being gay, is just completely beyond me. The church continue to alienate itself from the mainstream, and while that can be good in some cases, to continue to bring more followers in, you need to check yourself when it comes to stuff like this.
